About Vesper Aussies

The Williams Family has a small North Georgia farm located near the foot of Lookout Mountain, Georgia: just a few miles from historic Chattanooga, TN.

Appreciating the beauty and intelligence of Australian Shepherds comes pretty naturally after spending just a little time with this breed. What we have found as our dogs' personalities continue to develop, is that along with the things that make this breed great, our Aussies are less dogs and more family members. Each of the things that make them unique contribute to life here at Vesper Aussies.

Our dogs have their own role to play around the farm too... protecting the chickens from raccoons and foxes, helping gather the horses into the barn, keeping a watchful eye on the kids, making sure the barn cats don't get too big for their britches, and the list goes on.

Our own Australian Shepherds show in a variety of AKC and ASCA venues, and have either excelled themselves, or have come from quality bloodlines. Listed with our Aussies is a link to each dog's pedigree.

The Beginnings

North Georgia has been the place we call home for some 12 years. During which time, we've been blessed with 6 wonderful, healthy and happy kids. As part of their training, they daily help around our small farm with chores and tasks, and contribute to the peaceful existence we've carved out for ourselves.

Shortly after building our first home and as part of the process of "setting down our roots", we were introduced to the Australian Shepherd. Of course as most kids grow, children want pets, and the Australian Shepherd (with it's loyal and gentle disposition) became our pet of choice. As the relationships with our dogs deepened, we found that the kid's "pets" were actually more like friends, responding to our children with child-like enthusiasm and emotions. We saw our dogs "smile" while playing, and put on serious demeanors when there was work to be done.

From our early interactions with our Australian Shepherds, to today, we've noticed that the Australian Shepherd has something more to offer than just being a good pet. The breed is outstandingly intelligent and clever, amazingly loyal, hard-working, agile, sensitive, and epitomizes those desirable qualities in an animal that make it one of the world's top breeds. From those observations, it was only natural to see that the Australian Shepherd could give something back to its own breed. It was then, that we began considering breeding Aussies in order to do what we could do to make this breed of dog the best it could be. Since our first decision to breed, we've found many breeders and friends alike that share this Aussie ideal.
